Beaked Gecko, Rhynchoedura ornata

Barkly Tableland, NT Australia

These small, slender delicate-looking geckos are immaculately camouflaged against the desert sands where they forage for
termites and other small invertebrates. They are commonly found in pitfal traps during fauna surveys but require skill to find by
other means. I have found them sheltering in spider and insect burrows. In spite of their delicate appearance, these lizards are
amongst the most common in the most extreme climates in Australia.
