Long-necked terrapin, Chelodina sp.

Mornington Sanctuary, Western Australia

I found this charming creature swimming in a small rocky waterhole at Mornington, where they are presently very common.
This species is very different from the Long-necked terrapins of Kakadu, and it is likely that this is either a currently undescribed
species, or Chelodina kuchlingi. Time (and more genetic work) will tell. It may look cute, but if you were a tadpole this might be
the last thing you ever see.
