Greater Broadnosed Bat

Robertson NSW

In my work as a fauna surveyor I assist other specialists, including my friend and colleague Narawan Williams (this is not him)
who works with bats. Narawan had to check out this bat's teeth to identify it and the bat was not happy (and was rather small).
My S2, 60mm Micro-Nikkor and my trusty iBook were put to use and the bat was identified as a Greater Broadnosed bat.
The head of this animal is about 12mm long. Given the teeth that this animal is packing, it is probably a good thing that they don't get a lot bigger.

Jesus, the teeth on this bat!!
I read some where the bats are not as bad as they are reported to be.
Movies, vampires etc etc.
Beautiful shots, all your gallery!

Amazing! Not sure if I'd like to get too close to this one Alexander.
