Curculionidae: Weevil dead?

Southern Highlands, NSW

No, it is just pretending. When I approached too closely this weevil dropped onto the leaf litter where it pretended to be a non-living
thing, quite convincingly. The drop would have been (in relative terms) the equivalent of a twenty storey building, so to add to my
terrible collection of weevil puns, this beetle could be the new "Weevil Knevil". As many insect predators rely on visual cues to detect
their prey, this strategy is quite effective, as the weevil was very well camouflaged amongst the leaf litter.
