Roman Steps

Cwm Bychan, Llanbedr, North Wales

The "Roman Steps" pass through Bwlch Tyddiad, a high mountain pass between Trawsfynydd and Harlech on the coast. Its quite probable that the route was used in prehistoric times and by the Romans, but the steps apparently are medeival with their spacing and placing suggesting packhorse usage, probably to supply the English garrison posted to Harlech Castle.

Now THAT is more in keeping with my memories of this area. I was thinking today that it must be over 30 odd years ago since I last (struggled) along the Roman Steps :-). Then I come home and boot up the PC and see you have it captured EXACTLY as my old sepia memory sees it now .
Thanks Keith .

Nice treatment BTW . Derek
