Dornier 215 WNr 0023. VB+KK, 2/Aufklarungsgruppe 121

An old photo of Do215 which was returning from a reconnaissance mission to evaluate damage to Liverpool in October 1940. It was shot down near Trawsfynydd by a Spitfire piloted by Pilot Officer Dennis A. Adams, from B Flight of 611 Squadron detached from Tern Hill to Ringway. Three of the four-man crew survived namely, Felt Webeln, Kurt Jensen and Hans Kuhl. The fatality was 26 year old engineer, Unteroffizier Gustav Pelzer - he was the first enemy aircrew member to be buried in north Wales. " ...Three of the four-man crew survived namely, Felt Webeln, Kurt Jensen and Hans Kuhl..."

I suspect that an error has cropped in here, the pilot was, I believe, a Rolf Book who later wrote about the incident and the young girl who handed him her handkerchief to wipe the blood from his face. I suspect that Kurt Jensen and Hand Kuhl were Sergeants in the Luftwaffe - or in German - Feldwebel.
Pelzer was re-interred after the war at the German Military Cemetery at Cannock Chase, Staffs.

Hogyn bach chwech oed oeddwn i, yn y cae yd adre yn Styllen, a gwelsom yr awyren 'ma yn hedfan heb fod yn bell iawn oddiwrthym, ac awyren arall yn ei dilyn ac yn tanio ati. Cofiaf un o'r gwylwyr hynaf yn dweud mai Spitfire oedd hi. Erbyn hyn y fi yw'r unig un o'r cynhaeafwyr sy'n dal o gwmpas i ddweud yr hanes, ac i gadarnhau mai nid breuddwydio wnes i! Fyddai'r awyren wedi dod o gyfeiriad y Parc tybed?
