Being a PhD student at the University of Bern, I had the opportunity to go on a geological excursion to NW Scotland last August. It turned out to be a magnificent trip, not only for the geology but also for our nice group and the breath-taking desolate landscapes.
We spent the first night in Edinburgh and then moved on to the northwest, where we slept for four nights in the highly recommendable Inchnadamph Lodge. Our next “base camp” was located on the beautiful Isle of Skye and there we stayed for another four nights.
With in mind the not-so-good reputation of Scottish weather, I was very happy the first day when the weather was nice. I told myself “Let’s take a lot of pictures today, it might be the last day of good weather…”. And that’s what I kept on telling myself throughout the excursion, as we were incredibly lucky and had nice weather every single day!!! (except for one day to be precise, but I was so smart to forget my camera on that occasion)
The result is that I can present you a LOT of pictures here ;-) Therefore (to make things a bit more accessible) I've also grouped some of my favourite images into the "Scotland Highlights".
