This is a set of pictures of a spectacular hike from the beginning of the Gasterntal (1300m), near Kandersteg, to the Balmhornhütte (1955m). The trail literally sticks to the almost vertical southern valley side untill it reaches a small side valley. There, like an eagle's nest, the hut overlooks the main valley and the mountains behind. The small valley also is home to some larches, and the sun put their autumn colours on fire!
It is possible to walk on in the direction of the Balmhorn (3689m), what I did untill I reached the start of the Wildelsigengrat at around 2700m. From there things got a bit too spectacular for me...
