There are two possibilities when another hot weekend is approaching: you go either to a lake or go up to higher elevations in the mountains. We did both.
The Lunzer See is a crystal clear lake, beautifully set in an alpine landscape, about two and half an hour carride west of Vienna.
Nearby is the Oetscher, with 1893m/6300ft high enough to escape the hot temperatures at lower elevations.
