Red Rock dam to Ottumwa

I started paddling in this area in 1997. It is accessible year round. I loved the winter paddles. One paddle turned into a walk upstream through the rapids below the Ottumwa Coliseum. The water was about a foot deep and very clear, the river bottom was covered with large flat rocks--eagles overhead-wonderful. There was a large river float for several years, the River Ripple, from Eddyville to Ottumwa.
