Sadly, on the morning of Monday, June 12, 2007, Lucky, our beautiful kitten, was put to sleep. As some of you know she had F.I.P. (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) which was discovered about 8 weeks prior during a visit to the vet.
Her abdominal fluids drastically increased visually in just 2 days when we were fairly sure the final stages were approaching. The vet took a sample this morning (12th.) and the results were positive. Lucky had started to hide under the sofa Friday so the other cats wouldn't bother her. You could see the abdomen had swollen up dramatically, she had no interest in food, uncomfortable and what looked like depression. She stopped eating Sunday and that of course, is not a good sign. and decided to take her in for another exam (Monday the 12th, June, 2007.).
These symptoms were more even pronounced Monday morning and knowing FIP is ALWAYS fatal, Chris and I took her to the vet at 9:00 am realizing what we were about to face. The "procedure" was quick and of course painless - not for us though.
She was cremated with her favorite play toy, a little green mouse with a bell on the tail.
We were truly blessed to have had her for 9 months. How is it you can get so attached to these little furry creatures?
As you can see from this picture taken on the 11th., resting on my desk, she is tired and generally not comfortable, not common for a nine month old kitten - I just had the feeling these would be the last pictures I would ever take of her - and they were.
