Pleasure Beach trip 2002

I took a walk to Pleasure Beach on the afternoon of May 19, 2002, which sits on the border of Bridgeport and Stratford, CT. The only access to the beach is either by foot by walking over a mile along the beach dunes from Long Beach in Stratford or landing there by boat. There was a wooden bridge connecting the area to Bridgeport, but it was burned and destroyed several years ago by foul play. I took pictures of the burned bridge. Also, on the Stratford side of the beach is a ghostown of deserted beach cottages. The inhabitants of these cottages were evicted over a year ago by a motion from the Stratford Town Council. One primary reason is no emergency services like a fire truck could'nt gain access to the area due to the bridge being destroyed. The city of Bridgeport has not yet decided to rebuild the connecting bridge. The Bridgeport side of Pleasure Beach is home to a ghostown of the hay day excitement of Bridgeport. I took pictures of the abandoned carousel, and concession areas. Also there is a newer building which appeared to be a waterfront restaurant. Pleasure Beach is home to the 2 red and white large transmission towers that transmit the signal of WICC (600 AM). I was slightly eerie when I walked around. Lots of abandoned buildings, but nobody around but me, the seagulls, and my camera...Enjoy.
