Virginians often refer to the river as the "Rivah". As in ... "We are going to the Rivah", or ... "We have a place on the Rivah". If you are from the Richmond area, the "Rivah" usually means the Rappahannock River, but could aptly apply to any one of a number of Coastal Plain waterways draining to the Cheasapeake Bay. Most of these shots are from the Mattaponi, Pamunkey and Chickahominy watersheds ... smaller, flatwater rivers of Virginia's Middle and Lower Peninsulas.
