From Discover Richmond ...
"Grace and Holy Trinity's roots go back to 1857. That year Grace Church, a mission of St. Paul's Church, was started at Foushee and Main streets in a Romanesque structure. In 1874, Moore Memorial Chapel was started on Laurel Street and built from granite mined in nearby Manchester, now South Richmond. Because of lack of money, the building wasn't completed until 1894, and the name was changed to Holy Trinity. In 1924 Grace Church and Holy Trinity merged."
Located on the west side of Monroe Park, this church was approached as a possible location for facilities during the March demonstration. Communication with Chruch personnel was allowed only through and intercom and it became acutely evident that there would be no possibility of their cooperation during the event. Participants were ultimately directed to the Pace Center on the north side of the park.
