Selaphorus Hummingbird, female

Milpitas, California

Even experts have trouble distinguishing female Rufous Hummingbirds from Allen's Hummingbirds, opting to just use the genus name, "Selasphorus." I believe this is a Rufous because of the amount of rufous at the base of the tail, and the presence of two male Rufous Hummingbirds.

Lovely. Beautiful bright colors. I love the action and serenity of the shot.

Thanks. Yes, the TC made it challenging because autofocus didn't work unless I turned IS off, but at least it worked. With the 20D, AF was so poor that I would never use the TC for a moving subject.

Very nice capture Garrett, specially considering the TC.
