Twentyfive years ago, my first and only grid-iron match. I happened to be working in State College and was taken to this yearly grudge match between Notre Dame and Penn State Universities. There appeared to be about fifty players per side, comprising attack, defence and kicking.....as I recall. There was an 80000 capacity crowd and there was still ice patches on the seats.
