After trying out the OS remedy and seeing the side effects, I instituted my own fix. I extended both the secondary and primary baffles using light flocking board. Off axis light still hits the flattener lens but at a much steeper angle and near the edge so, given good coatings and the refractive qualities of the lens, stray light is not likely to hit the camera detector.
