School Days 1976

Some photos from my secondary school that I found in a cupboard. I can't name everyone in the photos so if you can, leave a comment.

What happened in 1976?

1976 was, according to a recent report, the year when we were happiest.  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3519662.stm
Music: Abba - Dancing Queeen and Elton John and Kiki Dee – Don’t go breaking my heart. But the Sex Pistols were making their mark.
Films: The Omen and Rosemary's Baby
Sport: The FA Cup final result was Southampton 1-0 Man Utd; Liverpool FC win league for record 9th time; and James Hunt won the Formula One championship
Events: The dryest summer in the UK since 1727; Concorde’s first commercial flight; and Apple Computers was founded by Steven Jobs

hay fever. a burning hot desert heat on holiday in in scotland with parents. ice cold lemonade. waking at 4am and seeing another hot day arrive. no school for 6 weeks. top of the pops on a hot evening.

Had to come and have a look at this! I was 8 years old, I just remember the heat, and lots of footage of dried up reservoirs looking like the Kalahari!

I remember 1976 in the UK very well, that long hot summer before going to university for the first time. I think that report was correct, it certainly was a happy time for me (well at least for 90% of 1976). I could do without the bell-bottom and parallel jeans though.

This is a great gallery. I just remember being very young. Waking up every day during the school holidays and the sun was still shining. And then it rained for most of the Autumn. Haven't had a summer like it since.

Terrible event: terremoto nel Friuli
Films: 900 di Bertolucci, Quinto potere di S.Lumet, Je t'aime- moi non plus (Birkin!)
