This warm weather has brought a lot of activity to the garden.
This morning I took a walk around to see what was there in preparation for a Wildlife Festival nature walk scheduled for this afternoon. Chipmunks, red squirrels and grey squirrels were quite noticeable and active. Bees were abundant. There were scores of Andrenid bees accompanied by the tiny little Nomada bees which are kleptoparasites on the Andrenids. Hovering around them were numbers of the tiny little beeflies which so resemble bees with their furry little bodies, but which are in fact, flies.
This little guy was in the BYG, and he was having a great time, running over logs, giving himself a good washing, racing around the woodland walk....then he posed in the sunlight for an instant.
