Three crows were harassing a grey squirrel(black phase)like this one, in the woods yesterday. I'm not entirely sure what they were up to, and the squirrel didn't seem overly perturbed. On the surface, though, it looked like they were attempting to catch the squirrel. Perhaps they were just chasing it, though. At any rate, they followed it through the trees, with one crow chasing from behind, one landing in front of the squirrel as if to head it off, and one making dives at its back and head. The squirrel, rather than running madly off in all directions, as they sometimes do when dogs and humans appear, was moving sedately along the tree branches until it vanished in the conifers at the north end. At this point the crows flew off.
There were also some Muscid flies and a few tiny moths around the garden, both days.
