Discovered in 2012, this and a circle next to it (AW7-2) are both at the north edge of the Old Woodlot on the west side of the centre path through the woods. Earlier (1992) this area was grass, then it became covered with DSV. Unsuccessful attempts were made to pull and cut DSV here, but no digging was done. Trees have grown up (spontaneously, not planted) over the last 20 years - ash, oak, trembling aspen, walnut, basswood. One 6-foot white pine was planted in 1996, the same year pine seedlings were planted on the other side of the central path, but it's more than 20 feet from these circles.
