A town in Hungary close to the Austrian border.
In the Roman Empire the place was already inhabited and was called Scarbantia.

The city is also referred to as the Most Loyal Town(Civitas Fedelissima).
In 1921 (14th Dec) the town had to decide where to belong to Hungary or Austria
and the voting resulted to belonging to Hungary by 65% of the votes.
