Lightkeepers Home

These buildings are the ones you see in the distance in "Remebering Reagan". This image was made about 10 minutes after the Reagan shot. These facilities (except for the working light maintained by the Coast Guard) are preserved by the Kennebunkport Conservation Committee. I appreciate their assistance in helping me obtain these and other Goat Island Light images.

I am so glad you like this image. It is one of my favorites, but not that many people like it as much as I do. The owner of the gallery where I have most of my work likes it too and she says it reminds her of a colonial painting. When I took this I was not even sure it would come out as it was getting so dark. If you were driving in this light you would need to have had your headlights on so on coming cars could see you even tho you could still see the road. I saw the reflection on the windows AND the stainless steel door of the lighthouse. The original raw image did not look like what I (vs the camera) saw. But it seems to me that using raw you can get some great low light images to work with. The same was true of the Nubble Light image with the Christmas lights.

Absolutely love the sunset reflection in the windows. Very soothing with a fine composition.
