The wave of surf was caught using a shutter speed of 2.8 seconds, whilst exposing to retain detail in the brightening background sky.

2.8s f/16.0 at 18.0mm iso100 full exif

Love the wave action Frazer... I wonder if the image as a whole would be stronger if you made a square crop of just the right hand side....just a thought, maybe worth trying to see what you think :)
