My Virtual Louvre

For a change, this gallery is not dedicated to photography, but to paintings.
It contains a short selection of some of my favourite masterpieces, captured during frequent visits to Le Louvre ...Gallery in slow progress, starting with Flemish and Italian masters of the15th century. I apologize for the poor quality of these pictures, all handheld using slow shutter speeds and high ISO, and often affected by parasite light reflections, a very real problem in the Louvre.

Beautifully shot. No need to apologize. I can't imagine the pics looking sharper with a tripod. Your hand-held technique is superb. The quality of your images are top-notch. Thanks for the opportunity to view the Masters on my desktop. It'll hold me over tilI I get to the Louvre one day.

I need some help. I visited the museum three years ago. As I was walking to see the Mona Lisa, I was checking out other paintings. I was on the left hand side of the museum (on the floor that leads to the mona lisa) There was a small picture mounted on a pillar. This painting was small maybe 8" x 11". It featured a landscape with the most brilliant sunlight I have ever seen. I was an idiot and did not write the name of the painting. Now I am haunted by the image. I have to see it again. It was so cool.

any ideas? The louvre site search is in french so that does not help me.
If anyone can help....let me know my email is housefast@aol.com

great shots, I tried to use my camera in the Melbourne Art Gallery, and got thoroughly abused by security people, and I was not going to use flash either.

A great idea and a great gallery. Thanks for allowing us to view the great paintings from home. Why didn't the Louvre think of this??
