They're Back!
The bald eagle is back at Delta Ponds, at least this one is! They have lots of room there to survey the area from the trees.
Bald eagles have a wingspan of about 7 feet (2 meters), second in size only to the California condor. Of course, bald eagles aren't really bald. The white-feathers on their heads stand out in contrast with their chocolate-brown body and wings. Making them even more colorful are Their legs and bills, which are bright yellow.

Under The Radar!
It was a real joy to capture This egret as it flew low above the grass of Delta Ponds. They are so beautiful in flight for such a tall, gangly bird when standing. Pure grace in flight!

Bridge to Cuthbert Amphitheater, Alton Baker Park
From the Pre Trail in Alton Baker Park, one crosses this bridge to get to Hays Tree Garden and the Cuthbert Amphitheater. Here is the bridge on a very foggy morning.

I was really drawn to this tree in a field along McKenzie View Drive.

Armitage Bridge (Coburg Railroad Bridge)
Since my day was cut short today because of an accident, I posted this photo of the historic Armitage Bridge, originally a railroad bridge and now used as a pedestrian bridge.
Interesting information about the bridge is found here -
http://bridgehunter.com/or/lane/armitage/ As shown in the photo there, the bridge sits alongside Coburg Road and the I-5 freeway bridge is in the background.

Fog Frost (Pogonip)
The frost created by fog is so amazing and beautiful! A photo just can't do it justice. But at least I tried!

Total Concentration
This Great Blue Heron was so intent on its prey that it didn't even notice me sneaking up on it. I was able to get pretty close for this shot, made at Alton Baker Park. How those skinny legs hold them up is amazing to me.

Leaving the Launch Pad
This egret needed only a small launching pad, a limb sticking out of the water, to get into the air. It is amazing how those big birds can lift off as quickly as they do! This scene is in Delta Ponds.
(My D3 is now on its way to Nikon for cleaning. After five years of use, it's about time.)

Reflection on Kirk Pond
The sun broke through as my friend, John, and I shot pictures of Kirk Pond along Clear Lake Road. Just across the road is Fern Ridge Dam. The sunlight brought life to the hill and trees across the pond, making what I thought was a pretty scene.

Filbert (Hazelnut) Orchard, Dorris Ranch
This photograph was recorded at Dorris Ranch, "a national historic site, a working farm and a public park complete with walking trails and natural areas. Dorris Ranch also serves as the western access point of the paved, four-mile long Middle Fork Path, which runs to Clearwater Park." (Quoted from Willamalane Park and Recreation District website -

Carol and Miko in Her Recliner
Wherever you find Carol, you will find Miko, our little Pekinese/Chihuahua mix. He has to be close to her. Here you see him in his favorite spot on Carol's recliner just above her head.
