Here's the definition (note that it also refers to photographers :) -
------------------
"gag·gle (gāg'əl)n.
1. A flock of geese. See Synonyms at flock1 .
2. A cluster or group: "A gaggle of photographers huddled on the sidewalk beside a swelling crowd of onlookers" (Gioia Diliberto).
[Middle English gagel , from gagelen , to cackle , probably of imitative origin .]
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition"

Good looking group of sidewalk-bomb makers.

What a variety of sizes there and the fact they are all walking in the same direction makes for a very interesting photo. The low sun makes this very impressive also.

My grandma raised geese...she called them a "giggle" as they were so cute. A beautiful shot and the lighting is heavenly.

Nice bunch of geese

Excellent light!

Could also be called a "bevy" of geese.
Guest 15-May-2010 18:27
Great catch. I find it interesting to note that the adult geese are positioned to surround and protect the young. Geese have far more intelligence than we give them credit for.

And when a skein of geese is flying in "V" formation, why is one side of the "V" longer than the other???? 'Cause there's more geese on that side.

Looks like a happy family Vern, the lighting is great.

Splendid light on this lovely "gaggle", Vern. How interesting that the definition refers to photographers as well as geese!

A flock of Geese in flight is a skein

A gaggle is at least 7, and refers to geese on the ground. I think this group qualifies. Research question for you: what's the word for a flock of geese flying?
