Kolob Canyons and Zion National Park

Cut from a two-thousand-foot thick layer of Pangean Jurassic sand, these dunes formed in the Navajo Desert region of the Colorado Plateau. In the last six million years these fossil dunes were uncovered and carved by Utah's Virgin River. The vivid red sandstones give us some of the most impressive and beautiful sheer faces in the country.
