Left: One of the largest gambling chip and token collector societies was commemorated in this Las Vegas Club Silver Strike in 2002. The Strike came in a blue plastic holder, indicating that it's an extremely limited issue. It was approved for issue by the Nevada Gaming Commission on May 24 of that year, for use during the convention.
Right: Obverse of a 2004 Strike from the Las Vegas Club showing Barrick Gaming Corp which ran it. Barrick oned several Glitter Gulch properties and in 2005 boasted that it was the largest "fee simple property owner" in Las Vegas. All that changed, of course, when they were acquired that year by Tamares Group, a private investment company headquartered in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Tamares also owns 1500 Broadway on Times Square, which boasts the famous NASDAQ ticker and a Starbucks that is said to generate the highest sales per square foot in the world.
The "G" mint mark refers to Global Minting, a custom mint headquartered in Las Vegas.
