San Luis Thunderstorm

Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado

A heavy thunderstorm is poised to inundate the dunes in this view of their southern edge. A few people can be seen climbing the dunes, unaware of the danger from flooding and lightning.

WOW! Your panoramas amaze me. I lived in CO for 19 years and have yet to see the Sand Dunes, lol. This is beautiful though, I love the strong lighting that thunderstorms produce. Looks really dry though, hopefully those thunderstorms don't spark any fires, I hear that fire danger is already really high there!

Some 14 years ago I saw this valley from up at the beginging of Rock Creek south west of Monte Vista. I sat up on the mountain side and shot it most every day! Just beautiful!
