Simcoe Island, Ontario

This quaint little island lies between Wolfe Island and Kingston, Ontario where Lake Ontario meets the St.Lawrence River between Ontario and New York State. The only access to the island is by water.We will continue to add shots to this folder as we process them. PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE LIGHTHOUSE PROPERTY. Fred & Julie

Had the famous Governor of Upper Canada any connection with this Island ? I used to live on Simcoe Street in Niagara on the Lake .

To the guest who commented about Simcoe on 5/13. Interestingly my late mothers maiden name was Eves and their may have lineage to Glascow!

Very nice photos I have never been to the island but my grandmother louise eves was born there. her parents were Alfred and Ellen Eves. My grandmother married James Henry Bell who came from Glasgow Scotland and they lived on Amherst Island where my father and his siblings were born.My grandfather died overseas ww1 and my dad never got to know him as he was born after granddad had gone to war.

I typed in 2 errors......It should have been...Laurena Eves, who married Glendon Redden.......They are the grandparents of my son-in-law Jamie Smith (Sheena). Sorry for the mistake.

My daughter and her husband (2 children) are camping on Lorina Smith's (Eves) waterfront property. They go every year. They love the peacefulness. Jamie is Lorina's grandson.

I was born on Simcoe Island in 1943 my parents & grandparents had a small farm at the end of the island near where the ferry came across and the cars came onto the island.
The island has a big spot in my heart.

Beautiful photography! My grandmother grew up on Simcoe Island (Maiden name Deryaw) and I spent many happy summer days in my youth at my aunt's cottage (Eves). Thanks for bringing back happy memories!

Very nice! I've been to Kingston and to Wolfe Island, but never heard of this island. I'll have to give it a visit next time I'm in the area. Would love to see this lighthouse. Thanks for posting.
