Chess game at the beach.
They play there late into the night.
His name is Jerry Reynolds.
He's an icon there at the Kuhio Beach in Waikiki as he's been a speed chess player there since the 70's.

Didn't even notice the background as being cluttered as the concentration was on the chess players, their clothes, & the bike in the background. Lived in Waikiki, so appreciated the background as I was able to see the Pacific Beach Hotel & verify this exact spot in my mind. Guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. So appreciative of these Waikiki chess photos you've posted Dennis, as they are the most recent photos I've been able to find online of Jerry (it's been @ least 30 years since I've seen him) so they actually have a lot of meaning to me.
