0ur "Tater Bug" as he Grows...and the Interesting People he gets to Meet!
Some people have asked~so I'll say it here~
"Tater Bug" is a chocolate Miniature Doberman Pinscher. He was born on Aug. 11th - he's already potty trained! (YaY!)
Leash training comes Next! (Update: 10/11/07 - Likes Leash...likes to carry it around in his mouth..I think he could walk himself)
My dad has been raising Min Pins for about 10 years.
Through selective breeding, (going for smaller than show standard size & ears that stand so the dogs won't have to get them clipped)
He now gets "rainbow litters" in B&T, Reds, Chocolate & an occasional Fawn.
Tater will only be about 5-8 pounds when he's full grown. (Update: 10/12/07 - now weighs 2.25 pounds when flexing muscles)
(Update: 10/12/08 - Vet Check - all grown up - he weighs in at 7 pounds 12 oz)
He goes to work with us everyday and I hear some Min-Pin horror stories - hyper, snippy, yappy, etc.,
I tell people "Min Pins are Big dogs trapped in tiny bodies - super smart - they love exercise & get bored easily.
They crave the mental exercise of training...and like all dogs - they are what you make of them..."
(Update: 12/2008 - He howls like a full grown Wolf when the phone rings or someone plays the Harmonica)
Tater Bug isn't showing any signs of being timid or aggressive with people. He gets handled by a lot of our customers.
He squeeks when he needs to go potty, and he sleeps through all the traffic, train horns, & loud garage noises...
Dad's dogs only bark when someone visits and a lot of people bring their dogs back F0R visits.
Some will bring a box of new puppies to show off & some come back to get another puppy for their puppy for company...
Some pups ride the roads in big rigs with truckers & one has his own life vest because I've heard he spends quite a bit of time on a Yacht! (funny but true)
The dogs don't seem to forget each other and It makes Dad happy to see how they've grown....after the visits...dad smiles and says "THAT'S why I raise these dogs...they're Family...."
