June 9, 2013 - The Explorers Club Northern California chapter headed to Angel Island for our annual picnic. Yes, there was lots of food, and the weather was unusually cold and windy for this time of year. While most of the group took a tram ride around the island, two of us walked from Ayala Cove to Fort Reynolds. There we found the bakehouse and the house next door open for visitors, and the annual Civil War reenactment in full swing. Our boat home was ready to leave, so we abandoned our posts just as the cannons began firing. On the way home, we ogled the Yerba Buena Coast Guard Station and the Bay Bridge construction project.
