Crossing the Nieuwe Maas just east of Rotterdam, the Van Brienenoord bridge is one of the biggest arch bridges in the Netherlands. The bow spans 287+ m and the total length of the bridge is 1320 m. Built in 1961-1965 (eastern bow) and 1990 (western bow) it is part of the Netherland's busiest highway A16 with 6 lanes in both directions + double cycling tracks. Traffic includes over 250,000 vehicles per day and 140,000 ships per year.
