The Watcher

Madison River, Yellowstone National Park

Never pass up a Bald Eagle, that's our motto, and we jumped right in with a crowd of 20 or so that were trying to get a shot at this beauty. It sat on the stump, across the river, watching our antics and it crossed my mind that it might be wondering which on of us would taste best. It continued to sit and watch; we snapped photos and finally drove on down the road. Yellowstone Bald Eagle facts: Population figures from 2008 indicated there were 34 bald eagle nests that produced 26 eaglets in 2007. Some eagle territories are experiencing nest instability due to large numbers of trees that are falling as a result of the 1988 fires.

Holy cow - you captured this beauty with a 400mm lens across the river? (My 300mm lens couldn't begin to capture the bald eagles across the river this well when we were in Yellowstone).
This shot is magnificent! Big bald eagle Vote to you!
