It was early morning and the birds were just getting up and about when this fellow flew into sight. We've seen a few Northern Pintails on the island this winter, but I managed to catch this while I was on a visit to Washington State. Pintails are dabblers and up-end to feed on the seeds and nutlets of moist-soil and aquatic plants. They also make extensive use of waste grain
