Kelly Butte is the site of a standing lookout which I visited in late August 2005. The lookout is in poor condition there are plans in the works for a local volunteer to refurbish it in 2006. This is an area reserved mostly for logging but this particular mountain was a bit more scenic than I imagined. There is an attractive rocky escarpment on the South face of the peak which gives it a unique look that is much different than the rest of the rounded forested (or clearcut) knobs for which this area is known. A nice sunny day with views of Rainier and distant views of a lot of well known Cascade peaks found North of I-90. The photos:
