The Central Library is one of Seattle's newest landmark buildings. Designed by architect Rem Koolhaus, it is a far cry from the typical mundane library. The exterior is made of glass and steel in interlocking diamond patters which form large planes that meet at seemingly random angles. The interior is full of open space and the floors are sloped to make the main book "spiral" into a series of ramps. Funky colored escalators and decor complete the scene. This was just one quick visit around dusk but I'll return again as there was much more to photograph and I did not get a chance to photograph the exterior in daylight. The pics:
