This was a July 2003 dayhike to one of the most colorful lakes in the Cascades, Blanca Lake. Because of rock powder sediments deposited in the lake from the Columbia Glacier, Blanca Lake takes on a striking turquiouse color, especially when lit by the sun. Surrounded by Monte Cristo, Kyes and Columbia it makes for a very scenic and popular destination. I was able to get a few decent photos despite not giving the lake the time it deserved for exploring as well as photography:
