Palo Alto Baylands Park

The single-engine Cessna 172S apparently lost power as it approached the Palo Alto Airport (KPAO) and crashed in a marsh southwest of the runway at about 8:20 p.m. on Thursday June 23, 2011. One of the three men on board was taken to a hospital with back pain.

You have got it all wrong, that is the new pilot training scheme to see if he can land upside without damaging the plane or the passengers. LOL Cut the motor and see how far you can skid on the grass.
