This gallery is for the sample images posted in the Canon EOS 300D/350D forum mini-challenge #70 called Odd Juxtapositions, ending 1/16/2006, which I hosted.I found this definition of juxtaposition: "The combining of improbable elements in close proximity to each other. The effectiveness comes from the shock created by the combination." (on the Pickering College site under Poetically Terms)
We have all taken photos with telephone poles sticking out of peoples heads, I'd rather not see any of that. I would like to see juxtapositions, either accidental or intentional, that look like they might have been on purpose and that make for an interesting photograph. An image that becomes something else by virtue of the combination of two or more things. Pictures of people holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa count but use your imaginations! Let's see what you can come up with or have already taken that would fit into this topic. Humor is good but not necessary. The images should all be created in camera, no pasting something together, no photoshopping the image, other than the usual: a little cleaning up, curves, levels, contrast, resizing, sharpening, etc. So called "trick photography", as in the Leaning Tower images, is more than welcome but again it should be in camera. I will be judging on creativity and quality of the image.
