The Common basilisk, Basiliscus basiliscus, (or simply the basilisk) is a lizard found in Central and South American rainforests near rivers and streams. Nickname "Jesus Christ" was earned by this lizard becasue of its ability to run on the surface of water. Lizards feet move at 25 strokes per second while generating sufficient thrust and contact surface to ensure body is above the water level. These lizards are green at Tortuguero park unlike those found on Pacific coast.
I should give Pentax stabilizer full credit as this shot was made handheld at 1/45 sec at 210 mm (!)focal distance, while violating all photographic rules !
