Last Supper With Guinea Pig ? St.Francisco Cathedral, Lima

Though might not be clearly seen on the image, the painter in 1655 was very concerned that Peruvian Jesas and Co. must've had local meals on the table and positioned Guinea pigs on all plates, as well as provided everybody with golden ritual Inca's caps !

I have searched a similar mural out my entire life. I learned about it in the fourth grade (I'm 41 now) and was told that not only were they eating guinea pig, but everyone at the table was of a different nationality. I remember my teacher making a HUGE deal of out of this, because it was a difficult terrain to enter. How did the artist know about the different nationalities? Do you, by chance, know any about such a story? THANKING YOU! :D
