THIS IS MY SECOND COMMENT. A LITTLE STORY. I'M 74 YEARS OLD AND IN REASONALBLE HEALTH. IN 2005 I WAS IN INNSBRUCK AND DID A FAIR AMOUNT OF HIKING WHICH IS NOT WHAT I AM NORMALLY ACCUSTOMED TO DOING; 4-6 KILOMETERS A DAY. WONDERFUL! WUNDERBAR! I FREQUENT A CIGAR SHOP IN ROSWELL,GEORGIA (ALTHOUGH I AM A NEW YORKER BY BIRTH), ALMOST ON A A DAILY BASIS. ONE GENTLEMEN COMMENTED THAT HE HAD BEEN HIKING IN THE NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS.(BY THE WAY, THE TRAILS ARE NOT AS COMFORTABLE AS IN AUSTRIA. SOME HIKERS BRING THEIR DOGS WITH THEM. BEARS BELONG ALONG IN THE WOODS. DOGS DO IT ON THE TRAILS. HE MET A GROUP OF EUROPEAN HIKERS. HE RELATED THAT THEY WERE SAYING SOMETHING THAT HE TRANSLATED AS "GOOSEY GOOSE" OR THE LIKE. I TOLD HIM THAT THEY WERE PROBABLY AUSTRIAN AND GREETED HIM "GRUSS GOTT" EXPLAINING THAT THEY WERE GIVING HIM GOD'S GREETINGS. I AM NOT A RELIGIOUS PERSON, BUT I APPRECIATE AND RESPECT THAT CUSTOM. I EXPERIENCED IT IN AUSTRIA. I LEFT MY HEART THERE. MAYBE IT WAS THERE ALL THE TIME AND IT WAS WAITING FOR THE REST OF ME TO FIND IT. THANK YOU FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHY. ED PURVES

Thanks for comment, Arnulf. Now... I am completely lost in contradicting opinions on frames, it looks like most people like them, especially the new ones :-) ! But , as I suggested, I will replace those awkward thick wooden frames with more appealing ones, it will just take a bit of time...

Superb gallery from the Alps and surrounding areas. You've got so many great motifs here covering a very broad range of sceneries and activities typical for the region. But I quite agree with Angus that this gallery would be considerably enhanced with more neutral frames. Anyway : A big vote from me!

I kinda agree with Angus that some pictures look a bit cheesy :-), but I think this is because of frames. I will rework all of them within next 2 weeks, then the effect will be drasticly improved. The only this I am gonna miss will be lovely comments from my friends on "Susse Poppen In Lucerne ", hahahaha... Yet, the second Alpine gallery with decent frames is not kitschy, even though this was a compliment :-) from you !
