Time marches on. A comparison of the result of my conversion of an IR image (it was red/black from the camera, not B&W) to B&W when the image was first made in 2005 (left image) and how I might do the same conversion with "improved" tools/technique nearly three years later (right image). The original remains one of my favorite images, IR or not, and wasn't too shabby as it was a prize winner. The newer version has better contrast & detail - whiter whites & blacker blacks - which may or may not be desirable in an IR image where the ethereal effect is part of the "IR-charm".
