1/20/07 - A Rose by any other name...

Getting a jump on tomorrow's PAD. Going to be out all day.
Natural light, 105 macro lens, white balance via coffee filter (checked it against a true gray card WB comparison - right on the mark), long exposure - 13 seconds - because I stopped way down for a large DOF in an attempt to get the entire rose in focus. Rose stem is being held by a "3rd hand" device in front of a black backdrop. Straight from the camera except I cropped a bit from the bottom to change the proportion from 3:2 to 5:4. I wanted to even up the spacing on all four sides & so got rid of the excess at the bottom.

Call this one beautifully pink. Very nice detail, and I like the way you used black as a background. GMV

This came out really nicely, wow, 13 seconds, I had never thought of doing that for a flower photo, you have got a lot of detail in though. I will have to try it!
