LAKE MARTIN UPDATE "SPRING 2006"
Sometime from March 11 thru 24,there was a large number of birds that left
from the roadside at Lake Martin, and at a later date all the birds had gone.
The abandonment of the birds is being investigated by the Nature Conservancy,
state and federal officials. Possible causes include: low water level,
poor food sources due to the 2005 hurricanes, predators, human disturbance.
Hopefully the birds will return next year..
