Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2009 - 26 April 2009.
This year we reverted to the "B&J-Hole" camera from earlier years, primarily to use up some odds and ends of 4x5 film left from earlier years before it deteriorates. (Ye Olde Photographer does not normally use the 4x5, as he doesn't have a working 4x5 enlarger or the dollar per shot film budget for feeding it.)
Unlike several previous WPPD outings, this one was blessed with sunshine -- albeit with April daytime temperatures well into the 80º (F) range, highly unusual. The first stop on the list was Phoenixville, PA, at the site of the former Phoenix Iron Company works. After years of abandonment and deterioration, this spot has been turned into a showplace and visitor center, truly the Phoenix rising from the ashes! Check out the Schuylkill River Heritage Center at Phoenixville should you find yourself in the area. The center offers access to a multi-use trail once a railroad line. You may view other shots, taken with modern novelties -- like lenses -- at YOP's Phoenixville Gallery.
All but one shot was taken on Ilford HP5 Plus, an ISO 400 film which required somewhat shorter exposures than desired with a manually timed shutter, but fortunately B&W film is forgiving.
The official WPPD submission appears at this link.
