Our hotel in Lauterbrunnen was just a block or so from the rail station. On a day of promising weather, we decided to check out the cog railway. It is possible to travel all the way to the top of Jungfrau, the highest spot in Europe, but that is an expensive and all day trek, so we compromised on going as far as Kleine Scheidegg, a ski area. A sign at the station placed its elevation at 2061 meters — 6762 feet.
This was around midday on 17 April and there was still skiing activity. In spite of that, the air temperature in the sun was good with just a light jacket. We walked around, had some coffee, and took lots of pictures. Following that we took the train part way back and got off at Wengen, a town that seemed like a small city compared with Lauterbrunnen. There was a sizable business district and many hotels and chalets with astounding views of rugged snow-capped mountains. So we exercised our cameras (and our feet!) for an hour or two then completed our trip down through the mountains to Lauterbrunnen. There was spectacular scenery everywhere.
